KiCad Schematics TUTORIAL

We wish to keep this tutorial simple. So we have excluded, temporarily any question about how to place a new IC or a new component. We will come back to that later in the tutorial. For now we wish to place only those compponents that are already in the library of the KiCAD.

Therefore, as we already saw the circuit in the previous page, we will be placing only a resistor, a diode and a connector. All of these are already in the library. A library is, kind of, a collection of components.

We will also interconnect these components using wires. And finally we will place a 3.3V power net and a ground net.

We have created a completer youtube video for this. Please check out.

Few notes

- To place a component click on place -> Component. And then click somewhere on the schematics and then you can find the component either by "Search by Keyword" ot by "List All".

- After placing the component, you can rotate it by selecting the component -> right click and select Rotate Counter Clock wise

- You should give a reference designation to all the components. This can be done either by double clicking the reference designation ( that is initially assigned like R?) and then naming it to something like R? You can also do it by selecting the component and clicking it which pops up a window ( We used this method for the connector).
