In parametric DC sweep, we vary the value of one of the DC parameters ( Voltage , Resistors etc) and observe one of the values that we try to optimize.

As an example, in the following figure, we wish to find the value of R2, that will maximize the power dissipated in the resistor R.



From the power Transfer theorem, we know that the power in the resistor R2 will be maximum when it is equal to R1 or 5 Ohms.

Let us pretend that we do not know the Power Transfer Theorem. We, instead are trying to vary the value of R2 and we are trying to find a value, at which the power in R2 is maximum. Parametric DC Sweep is useful in this case.
