Switching and Linear Regulator Calculator


Most Switching and Linear Regulators employ a pair of resistors R1 and R2 as shown in the figure below to determine the output voltage level.



Following is the formula for the Output voltage as a function of the reference voltage and the resistors. The reference voltage is typically in the range of 0.75V to 1.5V and is mentioned in the datasheet of the regulator.

The formula for the Output voltage is given by

Vout = Vref *( 1+ R1/R2)

Where,

Vref Regulator Reference Voltage
R1 Feedback Resistor connected between output and feedback pin of IC
R2 Feedback resistor connected between Feedback pin and Ground
